Overview
Explore the impressive Königstein Fortress known as the “Saxon Bastille”. Situated at the top of a mountain, the fortification offers spectacular views over the Elbe river and the rest of the valley. Once at the top you can contemplate enormous walls made of sandstone, and learn about the history of this place, nicknamed the “Saxon Bastille”, due to the function of a prison that it exercised over the centuries.

Erected in the mid 19th century with its emblematic seven arches, it is placed 40 meters above the ground. The walk over the bridge offers you an extraordinary view of the river Elbe and the impressive sandstone rocks. From that point, you can decide if you want to visit the ruins of the medieval Neurathen Castle or have some break before departing back
